Is she ready for makeup already?

My sister already posted this story on her blog, but I had to put it on mine too. Kaylee got a little bored while we were helping Marla move out of her house, so as kids often do, she found something to occupy her time - Aunt Marla's makeup. The conversation that followed went something like this: Marla: Kaylee, what have you been doing?
Kaylee: Putting on my makeup. Marla: It looks very pretty. Kaylee: Thanks, Aunt Marla. Marla: You look like a raccoon. Kaylee: No, I don't. I look like you. Marla: (stunned silence followed by great laughter) `

By the way, I probably owe Marla like $20 for all the makeup Kaylee used (and smashed up) that day. Sorry, sis!

Little Peanut

"I pity the fool who doesn't give me some more rice cereal."
Anybody recognize the emblem on this shirt? I hope Pa Pa and Grandma have been saving their nickels. Just kidding, Mom.
`
`
Kaylee loves to make Lauryn laugh. It sure is nice to have someone else entertaining child #2 all day instead of just me.

We're Home!

Surgery went well, and we're home from the hospital. The doctor put a tube in each ear and removed her adenoids. She said the adenoids were really enlarged, so I'm glad she did that part too. Kaylee did great and was happy to come home. She didn't like the blood pressure cuff or the stuff wrapped around her arm holding the IV in place. By the time we left the hospital, she had a bowl of Jello, a popsicle, a bowl of ice cream, and a cup of apple juice. I'd say she's feeling pretty good. Thanks again for all of your prayers this morning!

The randomness of life...

Happy belated Valentine's Day! The balloon is Kaylee and Lauryn's present from Daddy. The flowers are mine, and the candy bar bouquet is Chris's.
Just out of the tub...
Baking cookies!

Kaylee's surgery is tomorrow morning at 10:00am. I'll be sure to post an update when we get home. Thanks for your prayers!

10 Things I Have Done Since My Last Post

1. made an incredibly long trip to Kansas with a 4-month old who is turning out to be a terrible traveler (good thing she's cute)
`
2. helped a pack-rat who quite possibly owns more stuff than all four of us combined move out of her house (I still love ya, sis)
`
3. watched the NASCAR All-Star Race with some of my closest friends and our combined 5 children (I would describe it as NASCAR meets daycare with more emphasis on the daycare)
`
4. made an incredibly long trip back to Omaha with aforementioned terrible-traveling baby
`
5. had supper with my old friend Courtney and her fiance, John (chicken crispers from Chili's... mmm, mmm good)
`
6. helped my sister-in-law, Rachel, register for more gifts for her upcoming wedding (I say that every 10 years you should get to register for new gifts... what do you guys think?)
`
7. was awakened at 3:30am to "Mommy, I have to go potty." (hallelujah, she's potty-trained, folks)
`
8. went to the grocery store with both kids and no help (not recommended)
`
9. talked on the phone for an hour with my good friend, Christi, who I don't talk to nearly enough (Christi, I forgot to tell you that when Kaylee prayed for breakfast this morning she, out of the blue, thanked God for you and Josiah. You always knew she was your favorite, right? :)
`
10. ate a bowl of cookies 'n cream ice cream in an attempt to drown the memories of the trip to the grocery store with both kids and no help (the ice cream I recommend, but still not the grocery store trip)

Ready for spring?

Kaylee ran into the bathroom yelling, "Check out these pants, Mommy!"
`
No, we didn't bust out the capri pants in anticipation of spring. Those are Lauryn's pants. They're a good fit, don't you think? And as if that wasn't enough to brighten your day, I'll throw this one in too, for no extra charge. What a steal.

And now for the not-so-good news...

I pretty much knew this day would come again, but I was hoping for the best. Kaylee started running a fever on Tuesday night and wasn't feeling good. She got up Wednesday night at 2:30am (technically Thursday morning) and told me she had a bee in her ear. That is not a good sign. When she got up Thursday morning, I cleaned it out with a Q-tip and, no kidding, it looked like green snot coming out of her right ear - the one with the tube still in it. Needless to say, we saw the ear doctor that morning. The left ear was infected too (that's the one that the tube fell out of in October). We're scheduled to go in on February 19th for a 2nd set of tubes. We have to wait to make sure this ear infection and the cough go away before the surgery. This time she's having her adenoids out too. The doctor thinks they are enlarged and blocking the opening to the eustacian tube. That would be why fluid doesn't drain properly and just builds up behind her ear drum. Say a prayer for her if you think of it. I'll post an update when we have more details.
